Final

I did some extra research since i was out for a while so here is my list of 25 things or features I learned this month about adobe premiere.

 1. Import Media

Drag and drop your video, image, or audio files into the Project panel or use File > Import. Organizing your media into bins (folders) helps keep things tidy.

 2. Create a Sequence

You can create a new sequence from scratch or right-click on a clip and choose “New Sequence from Clip” to auto-match the settings. Sequences are where the actual editing happens.

 3. Use the Razor Tool

The Razor tool (shortcut C) allows you to cut a clip into pieces. This is useful for removing unwanted sections or rearranging segments.

 4. Trim Clips

Hover near a clip’s edge until you see a red bracket icon, then drag to shorten or lengthen it. This allows for precise timing adjustments.

 5.  Move Clips Around

Simply click and drag clips to rearrange them on the timeline. Holding “Alt” (or “Option” on Mac) while dragging duplicates the clip.

 6.  Add Transitions

Transitions like Cross Dissolve or Dip to Black are found under the Effects panel. Drag and drop them between two clips to create smooth visual changes.

 7.  Add Text/Titles

Use the Type Tool (T) to create simple titles directly in the Program Monitor. Edit font, size, and position in the Essential Graphics panel.

 8.  Adjust Audio Levels

Adjust the audio by dragging the white line on the audio track up/down. You can also use keyframes to change volume over time.

 9.  Apply Basic Color Correction

Use the Lumetri Color panel to tweak brightness, contrast, highlights, shadows, and more. It’s great for fixing exposure or adding a certain look.

 10.  Custom Presets

You can save effect settings or export formats as presets by clicking the three dots next to them. Great for keeping your style consistent.

 11.  Track Masks

Use masks within effects (like Gaussian Blur) to target a specific area of the screen. You can keyframe the mask’s position to follow objects.

 12.  Dynamic Link with After Effects

Right-click a clip > Replace with After Effects Composition to open it directly in AE. Changes you make in After Effects update in Premiere without re-exporting.

 13.  Lumetri Scopes

View scopes like Waveform, Parade, and Vectorscope under Window > Lumetri Scopes. These help with accurate color correction and exposure balancing.

 14.  Create Picture-in-Picture (PiP)

Use Scale and Position under Effect Controls to place one clip inside another. Common for interviews, tutorials, and reaction videos.

 15.  Use Time Remapping

Expand a clip’s FX track, select Time Remapping > Speed, then use keyframes to gradually speed up or slow down sections.

 16.  Stabilize Footage

Apply the Warp Stabilizer effect to handheld footage. It analyzes movement and smooths out the shot, but may crop the edges slightly.

 17.  Use Markers

Press M to drop a marker on the timeline for syncing or marking beats in music. You can color-code and label markers for organization.

 18.  Use Adjustment Layers

Create one from the Project panel > New Item > Adjustment Layer. Stack it above clips and apply effects to affect multiple clips at once.

 19.  Nest Sequences

Select multiple clips, right-click > Nest to combine them into a single clip. Useful for organizing complex timelines or applying one effect to multiple clips.

 20.  Sync Audio and Video

Select a video and external audio clip, right-click > Synchronize based on audio waveforms. This is great when using separate microphone recordings.

 21.  Use Motion Controls

Under Effect Controls, animate Position, Scale, or Rotation using keyframes. This lets you pan, zoom, or spin clips for dynamic visuals.

 22.  Create Slow Motion

Right-click a clip > Speed/Duration and set a slower percentage (e.g., 50%). For smoother results, use high-frame-rate footage.

 23.  Green Screen (Chroma Key)

Apply the Ultra Key effect and use the eyedropper to select the green background. Fine-tune settings like Matte Cleanup and Spill Suppression for realism.

 24.  Basic Multi-Cam Editing

Synchronize multiple camera angles, then enable Multi-Camera Editing to cut between them like live TV. Use the Program Monitor to switch views in real-time.

 25.  Use Audio Ducking

In the Essential Sound panel, tag dialogue and music, then enable Ducking. Premiere automatically lowers music volume when people are speaking.
