Exercise 6
Instructions:
- Campaign Story Arc Planning: Choose a cause or product you are passionate about and outline a campaign that uses the Launch–Build–Sustain–Reflect framework. Identify the campaign’s goal (e.g., to promote a new app or to raise awareness for animal adoption). Write down ideas for each phase of the campaign:
- 1. Launch: Describe what the inciting incident or teaser will be – perhaps a striking poster, a viral hashtag, or a kickoff event – and what story angle it introduces.
- 2. Build: Outline 2–3 follow-up content pieces or events that add to the narrative. How will you keep people curious and engaged? (For instance, short videos revealing more about the story, or testimonials that escalate the emotional involvement.)
- 3. Sustain: Propose an interactive element or community engagement (like a challenge, contest, or Q&A) to maintain momentum. How will you encourage your audience to participate in the story?
- 4. Reflect: Plan the climax (maybe a finale event, big reveal, or deadline) and how you’ll conclude. What final call-to-action will you give, and how will you show the outcome or impact to your audience?
My Campaign Outline:
The product I decided to make a campaign for are these:
These are keychains made by a person on TikTok named "Lootcoin" and they are based off the K.O. prompts of each character in a game called Marvel Rivals. Since the goal of selling these is to make a profit, here's my idea for a Launch-Build-Sustain-Reflect style campaign.
Launch:
Because the creator already has a few ads on TikTok promoting this product, I think we should start by spicing them up a bit. The ad will start off with just some basic gameplay from the game and, as we get an elimination, it'll zoom in on the K.O. prompt and zoom out on the corresponding keychain. And, because this will be on TikTok, we can add basically whatever song we want. Obviously, we'd want to pick a song that trending but, if we can't choose one, there is always the old reliable meme song of Jeff the land shark singing.
Build:
This part can be done passively because Marvel Rivals is continuously adding new characters and, henceforth, new K.O. prompts. For example, Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, just got added to the game so we could make a new keychain. We could also have sales whenever there are events in the game. For example, Marvel Rivals is having a summer event right now in which a few skins were released for Loki and Psylocke. In a special summer themed battle pass, they also gave Thor, Luna Snow, and The Thing a summer themed skin. To celebrate, we could have a sale on their K.O. keychains. Just like before, we can advertise this sale with a TikTok video. (For those who, like me, don't read many comic books, the character below is Luna Snow)
Sustain:
In terms of community events, we could have polls on TikTok were costumers can help choose future keychains or give ideas for potential other products. We could also host livestreams of us playing Marvel Rivals to grow a community whilst advertising the keychains and making some money on the side that can be used for future projects.
Reflect:
For the climax of this campaign, we shall introduce a new product, either a Marvel Rivals themed t-shirt or a few new keychains based off of the unique sprays like Moon Knights ankh or Jeff's incognito dolphin spray. However, to spicy the event up a little more, we make these a limited time offer. I was thinking a 2 or 3 week time limit sounds good. That way it's long enough for people to see it and have time to get it as short enough to provide a sense of urgency and make the items feel more valuable.
