 Brotherhood

    For my tattoo project, I decided to design a tattoo based on Yuji Itadori and Aoi Todo from Jujutsu Kaisen, specifically the moment in which they teamed up against the disaster class, special grade curse, Hanami. Now, there are a few reasons I chose them in this moment specifically. 

Reason 1: Context behind there team up

    The ark in which this legendary team up happens, is called the Sister School Exchange Event. During this event, cursed spirits are placed in a large radius around the school and the students of both Kyoto and Tokyo Jujutsu High Schools compete to exorcise all the them. The students are allowed to fight one another but cannot kill each other. As part of there plan to beat the other school, Yuji was assigned to beat or at least stall Todo whilst the rest of the team splits up to exorcise as many curses as possible. However, Kyoto school, who had a secret mission to kill Yuji, split Yuji from the group. Whilst trying to get away, Yuji and Todo end up battling each other in the forest. However, whilst Yuji and Todo are fighting, Todo pauses their match to 1. give Yuji a brief moment to recover and 2. ask him a EXTREMELY important question, "What kind of woman is your type?". Surprised Yuji pauses for a few seconds are gives a truthful answer that indirectly saved the entirety of Japan, "I like a tall woman, with an nice big @ss". Because of his answer, Todo then declared they were now brothers, or best friends in the Japanese version, and proceeded to teach him how to better control his cursed energy as well as land Black Flash, which are basically critical hits. They then teamed up to save both schools from the invading disaster curses.

Reason 2: Their dynamic

    The dynamic of these 2 character is very silly but extremely well put together. The bond they share is strong despite them not knowing each other for very long. However, it's this bond that allows them to work so well together and coordinate with each other without even needing to speak. Their personalities are strengths are vastly different but seamlessly flow together and balance each other out. Yuji has excellent physical stats but lack battle intellect/experience and strategic thinking, meanwhile, Todo has decent physical stats, a strategic mind as well as great battle instinct and intellect. This, combined with Todo's cursed technique, called Boogie Woogie, that allows him to swap the positions of any 2 object with cursed energy, he can create openings for Yuji land good hits whilst also keeping him and himself safe. These 2 brothers from different mothers are monstrous duo both on and off the battlefield.

Reason 3: Brothers From Different Mothers

    The Yuji and Todo duo is one of my favorite combos in fiction because of the way they became friends. There relationship proves that 1. you don't need a complex reason to like someone or something 2.that the right person will show up in your life when you need them to or when you least expect it and 3. real friends stick together through thick and thin and always push each other to be better.

How this connects back to me

    Watching these to interact and work together in the show made me realize that I already have my Todo, I'd even go as far as saying I have 3 Todos in my life. These 3 are my cousin Isaiah, our friend Joseph and my friend Matthew. These people have been in my life for an extremely long time and, despite my flaws, have stuck by me. We have an almost unreasonable amount of trust in each other and there is no doubt in my mind that we will defend each other no matter what.
